Abstract
Study design – case report
Case of 3 year old male child diagnosed with Retinoblastoma of left eye presenting to Ophthalmology OPD with complain of whitish pupillary reflex in left eye. Our diagnosis was supported by Ultrasound and MRI of left eye Showing Heterogeneous echoeic irregular solid lesion in posterior chamber abbuting lens anteriorly with macrocalcication. On the basis of clinical examination and radiological investigations diagnosis of Left eye IRCB classification group E retinoblastoma was made. Chemoreduction by 6 cycles of iv chemotherapy(VEC) given 4 weekly was attempted but tumor didn’t show any regression confirmed on repeat scans.enucleation was done and specimen was sent for histopathological examination which showed high risk characteristics therefore further 6 cycles of intravenous chemotherapy was given. Genomic sequencing found TRPM1 gene mutation.
Conclusion – Chemoresistant Retinoblastoma is still major problem for salvage of globe.
