Abstract
Aim
To determine the incidence and risk factors of retinal re-detachment following silicon oil removal in eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.
Methods
In this retrospective study, 115 eyes undergoing silicon oil removal following pars plana vitrectomy with silicon oil tamponade for RRD between September 2020 and December 2022 were included. The patients were followed up for a minimum of 3 months after SOR.Preoperative visual acuity prior to SOR, intraocular pressure, extent of detachment, duration of tamponade, lens status and presence of proliferative vitreoretinopathy were noted
Results
Twelve eyes(10.43%) developed re-detachment following SOR.
Phakic lens status(p=0.0018) appeared to be a significant risk factor for re-detachment.
Conclusion
The incidence of retinal re detachment was found to be 10.43% after SOR. Phakic lens status at initial surgery was associated with higher risk of re-detachment
