Abstract

Study design: Retrospective non-comparative observational study
Purpose: To evaluate anatomical results, functional outcomes, and postoperative complications of Densiron Xtra as an internal tamponade in Recurrent RD

Method: 19 eyes of 19 patients with RRD were included in the study. Densiron Xtra was used as an internal tamponade. Patients were followed up for a minimum of 6 months.

Result: The mean BCVA at 6 months was LogMar 0.88 ± 0.34 compared to pre-op vision 1.71 ± 0.62 (P = 0.0001). Complications reported in our study were cataracts (60%), posterior capsular opacification (64.29%), and raised IOP(26.32%) followed by post-op inflammation (10.5%).Emulsification was reported in one eye.Primary anatomical success was achieved in 89.4%.Two eyes out of 19 reported redetachment with Densiron Xtra in situ. Following secondary surgery, there was a 100 % attachment rate.

Conclusion: Densiron Xtra is a safe and effective internal tamponade agent in recurrent retinal detachment
