Abstract
Study- Hospital based cross sectional study
Purpose- To study change in macular thickness and diagnose cystoid macular oedema after uneventful SICS.
Methodology – Cataract patients attending OPD and undergoing SICS were enrolled in the study.best corrected visual acuity ,anterior segment examination ,fundus photography and OCT macula is done preoperatively and on 1st ,6th and 12 th postoperative day.
Results and conclusion
Sub-clinical increase in macular thickness occurs even after uncomplicated cataract surgery. The maximum increase was observed after 6 weeks of surgery, which returns to near normal values within 3 months. Comparison of central macular thicknesses pre-operatively and post-operatively at the first week, sixth week, and 12th week suggests a significant correlation.
