Abstract
Study design: case series
Purpose-We focus on cases with canalicular lacerations, assessing the effectiveness of Mini-Monoka stents in
restoring anatomical and functional integrity.
Method- Over 7 months (October 2023–april 2024), patients with lid
lacerations involving canaliculi treated at AIIMS Patna were included. Surgical
outcome and post-operative follow up was done until April 2024.
Results- Mini Monoka stents were successfully put in 5 out of 6 patients
treated, and in one of the cases, it could not be done. Ocular cosmetic outcome
was observed with respect to skin approximation and nasolacrimal duct patency
were assessed.
Conclusion- Displacement of the eyelid from the medial canthal tendon
increases the risk of tear. Canalicular stents are easily inserted and retrieved, often
yielding favourable outcomes alongside primary repair.
